The military has imposed movement restriction order in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Areas of Borno State during the bye election scheduled for Saturday, 31st October 2015, in Borno Central senatorial zone.
This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Colonel Tukur Gusau, Media Coordinator, Operation LAFIYA DOLE.
“The Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE wishes to inform the residents of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council and Jere Local Government Area that a movement restriction order will be effective during the Bye election scheduled for Saturday, 31st October 2015, in Borno Central senatorial zone of Borno state.
“The restriction will involve the use of vehicles, tricycles, bicycles and animals.
“The restriction will be effective from 6.00am to 5.00pm” Gusau said.
He added that no vehicles would be allowed into and out of the senatorial zone during the Bye election exercise. Citizens are called upon to come out freely to exercise their constitutional rights.
Gusau said appropriate security measures have been put in place to guarantee peaceful election exercise throughout the Senatorial Zone.
He appealed to residents to inform the security agencies in case of any security breach or suspicious conduct.
He expressed gratitude to the general public for their unflinching support towards the success of command.
