*7 other troops injured during operation
Troops of 119 Task Force Battalion have killed an unspecified number of Boko Haram terrorists that attempted to attack military station located Kangarwa in Kukawa Local Government Area of northern Borno State. Two soldiers also lost their lives while seven others were wounded in action.
Confirming the report Acting Director Army Public Relations Col Sani Kukasheka Usman said due to poor visibility, the number of terrorists killed could not be ascertained.
He added that the troops successfully repelled the attack by Boko Haram terrorists which lasted for about 3 hours.
“The attack which started at about 6.30pm, was successfully repelled after about 3 hours of exchange of heavy gunfire that inflicted tremendous casualty on the terrorists” Usman said.
The Army spokesman also confirmed that 2 soldiers were killed and 7 others were wounded during the attack. “Unfortunately, 2 of our gallant soldiers paid the supreme price, while 7 were wounded in action” Usman said.
He said the bodies of the gallant soldiers and those wounded in action are being evacuated while the unit is carrying out mop up operation. Usman noted that the successful repelling of the attack was made possible by support from the Nigerian and Chadian Air Force fighter jets.
