Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has stated that he has all it takes to go to the Senate to represent Delta South Senatorial district in the 2019 election, even as he said that it is the turn of the Itsekiri nation to produce the Senator to represent the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Isoko ethnic nationalities in the district.
Dr. Uduaghan who spoke to newsmen on his ambition at his Warri residence Thursday said he has the experience, contacts, charisma, intellect and other attributes that eminently qualifies him to run for the position, saying that lobbying in the legislature is a serious business for serious minded people and he has the capacity and reach to attract development projects and democracy dividends to the people as a former state Governor.
He said Nigeria is a very complex nation with a lot of intricacies that requires a thorough understanding of the inner workings of governance and the red chamber is not just for every comer, so the Itsekiri nation must present her first eleven team this time around, noting that some of its political leaders today were children of necessity when they were so appointed to various positions in the past dispensation.
The immediate past Governor of Delta state declared that his aspiration is “knowledge based and not tainted by ethnic coloration and so we need somebody that understands the intricacies and complexity of Nigeria as a nation at that level of law making backed by sound intellect”, he maintained.
Dr. Uduaghan who said he is in the race to the senate disclosed that consultation is in progress with all the relevant stakeholders in the district and beyond said he is yet to openly make his declaration public noting that he has been in the forefront working hard to sustain the peace and security in the state and Niger Delta especially during the Warri crisis going into the creeks day and night.
