Prof. Aize Obayan, the Vice -chancellor of the Landmark University, Umu Aran in Kwara, on Friday said that only qualified applicants would secure admission in the institution this year.
Obayan gave the assurance during a familiarisation programme for prospective students of the institution.
The vice-chancellor said that the admission – for 2017/2018 academic session – would be strictly on merit.
She said that the ongoing screening of applicants was aimed at identifying qualified candidates that would receive quality teaching to be able to make much impact in the society.
Obayan said that the institution’s zero tolerance for unethical practices and its determination to promote academic and moral excellence were aimed at producing graduates that would be relevant in the contemporary world.
She urged the applicants to be ready to learn.
NAN reports that the screening was scheduled for June 3, 10, 17 and 24.
Meanwhile, some parents and applicants have hailed the university for providing a conducive learning environment and an organised and transparent admission process.
They urged the management to maintain the tempo.
Mr Fabian Kponu, a parent from Lagos State, said that the admission process was well designed and coordinated.
Mrs Mute Olori, who came from Abuja, told NAN that structures and equipment in the
