The Bayelsa State Government has expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of the Common‎wealth Parliamentary Association (Africa Region) for finding it worthy to host their just concluded 74th Executive Committee meeting in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson in a statement released on Sunday also thanked the organization led by its African Region President, Rt. Hon. Gladys Kokorwe and chairperson of its Executive Committee Hon. Lindiwe Maseko for the kind remarks about the developmental programmes of the government.
Iworiso-Markson in the statement also expressed appreciation to the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, ‎Senator Ike Ekweremadu (CFR) who took out time from the meeting to commission the quarters built by the government for interns and house officers at the Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa.
The statement also thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dorgara who was represented by Hon. Samuel Ekong,‎ Speakers and members of the various houses of assembly ‎who were in attendance as well as other delegates and participants who came from far.
The Information Commissioner also congratulated the Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Konbowei‎ Benson and all the lawmakers for the successful hosting of the meeting and for being good hosts to the visitors.
While wishing the‎ African delegates a safe journey back to their various countries, Iworiso-Markson urged them to share their wonderful experience about Bayelsa, adding that the Restoration Government of Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson looks forward to hosting them again next year.
According to him, next year’s meeting will be bigger and more eventful as the delegates will have the pleasure of using most of the big ticket projects ‎like the international golf course, Polo club and other leisure facilities in the New Yenagoa City which would be completed by the end of this year.
He also assured them of a shorter travel time, as they will be flying into the state directly from their different countries via the Bayelsa International Airport which will also be fully ready before their arrival.
