The outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Maj-Gen Ahmed Jibrin, has charged soldiers to be combat ready at all times.
He gave the charge on Wednesday while speaking at the handing-over ceremony to the new GOC, Maj-Gen Emmanuel Abajirin.
Jibrin, who noted that the current security challenges were national in outlook, added that officers and men must brace up to tackle them.
“It is a national issue and we must always be part of it and be ready to do our best.
“Army job is not about wearing uniform up and down and just staying in the barracks.
“We must be at alert all the times and be ready with zeal and determination and give the best when the call arises,’’ he said.
While enumerating his achievements in the last one year, Jibrin said that he was able to add value to the security strategies being deployed through the support of officers.
He urged them to give maximum support to the incoming GOC to enable him succeed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jibrin was transferred to the Army Headquarters in Abuja as the Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation.
Abajirin, on his part, said that he would continue to build on the achievements of his predecessor to make the Division better.
