Rev. Shuiabu Byal, Chairman, North-East Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has described President Goodluck Jonathan and INEC Chairman, Prof Altahiru Jega as heroes of the decade.

He said that the exemplary leadership exhibited by Jonathan and Jega before, during and after the March 28 polls needed to be emulated by Nigerians.

Byal spoke on Thursday in Bauchi in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that while in Israel before that country’s elections, he admired the way and manner the Israeli actors behaved during their polls, and prayed that such should be replicated in Nigeria.
“I am happy that Jonathan and Buhari as well as Jega have shown us sportsmanship that needed to be emulated by leaders of other African countries.
“Money was used, money was tantalised before and during the election, but Nigerians kept it to their conscious,’’ he said.
The chairman urged Nigerians to shun tribal, religious and sectional differences and support Buhari to enable the country move forward.

He said that the current situation has proved those who `migrated’ from their residential abode to their ancestral towns wrong.
