Ten Aspirants of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Katsina state have declared their intentions to contest the 2015 Governorship election in the state. This was disclosed to journalists by the state chairman of the party, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed.
He said among the contestants are Senator Habu Ibrahim, Senator Sadiq Yar’Adua and Ambassador Garba Aminchi.
Others, according to him, are Mannir Yakubu, Sada Ilu, Senator Kanti Bello, Samaila Isa Funtua, Alhaji Aminu Masari, Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’Adua and Usman Bugaje.
According to him, the party will ensure equal treatment among all the contestants to ensure success of the party during 2015 election. “All the contestants have agreed to work together and give all necessary support to any contestants who emerged winner during the forthcoming party’s primary election in the state”.
He said stakeholders of the party had a meeting with all the aspirants and the outcome was successful. “We met with all the contestants and the outcome of our meeting was successful and encouraging”.
The Chairman said the stakeholders meeting was convened to discuss issues that will ensure unity of the party and bring all members of the party under one umbrella.
He pointed out that the meeting which was attended by the three Senators, 13 members of National Assembly and four state Assembly members elected under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) was the first time since the election of the new party executive.
“The meeting brought together all members of the party for the first time, we will continue to hold similar meeting for unity and progress of the party”.
Inuwa explained that the party has drawn time table and will meet all segment of society, including security officers, and media ahead of 2015 election.
