As political campaigns for the 2019 general elections continue across the state and, indeed the country, members of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Orogun Federal Ward 2 have followed suit with the inauguration of a campaign council of the party at the ward
The ceremony held at the party secretariat in the area, gathered, was facilitated by one of the party’s chieftains in the area and Director General, Delta State Investment Development Agency, (DIDA), Olorogun Lucky Oghene-Omoru.
Our correspondent reports that the ceremony held at Emonu Orogun, headquarters of the ward, was attended by a cream of political leaders in the area and beyond who included: Hon. Grace Oddiri, Olorogun Lucky Oghene-Omoru, Chief Paul Okogu and Chief John Ominigbo.
Others are Comrade Francis Onwuegbuosa, David Edjukonemu, Chief Henry ltedjere, Hon Onakpoma Joseph, Hon. Onome Ivwurhie, Comrade Gabriel Akpude, Chief Edward Efomona, Betty Onakpoma, Elder Ben Onovughe, PDP executives from the 24 units of the Ward as well as many party leaders, women and youths.
In his inaugural speech, Chairman of the Campaign Council, Chief Paul Okogu, listed the criteria for selecting people to serve in the Campaign council and committees to include the following:serving political appointees, past and present councillors, committee of the Ward executive council, some leaders, among others.
Giving a report of the directives from both the state and LGA regarding the guidelines of selecting members of the campaign council and subcommittees, Chief Okogu emphasized that the campaign must take the form of mass movement as it would be very intensive to enable the party win the Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
In his remarks, Olorogun Lucky Oghene-Omoru pointed out the need to run an inclusive campaign by engaging all resourseful individuals within the party.
Hon. Grace Oddiri advised that when it becomes necessary some of the Committees would be enlarged to accommodate additional capable party members.
