The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, says its doors are still open for the former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
The National Chairman of the party, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, said this on Sunday in an interview on Trust TV.
“Our doors are still open for Kwankwaso to join the APC. If he comes, he’s mostly welcome. Though we are not yet in negotiation with him yet,” he said.
Recall that the only NNPP governor, Abba Yusuf of Kano State, last Friday, officially defected to the APC, alongside members of the State House of Assembly.
Meanwhile, Kwankwaso has expressed shock over Yusuf’s defection, a man who he helped become governor of the state in 2023.
“Frankly, it came as a big shock, not just to me, but to many Nigerians. To be honest, even now, it still feels unreal. Sometimes I lie down and feel like it was all a dream. The way the whole thing happened left many people confused,” Kwankwaso had said.
