Precious Anegbode, 21, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her lover, Damilola, to death in the Ijegun area of the state.

According to sources, Anegbode visited Damilola’s apartment last Friday, which resulted in a heated altercation.

According to reports, what started as a verbal dispute turned physical.

A neighbourhood citizen, who preferred to remain nameless, described how the couple’s fight became uncomfortably heated, garnering the attention of neighbours. Moments later, disaster struck when Anegbode reportedly took a knife amid the altercation and tragically stabbed Damilola.

“We don’t know what led to the quarrel between both of them. We only heard them shouting and the next thing we heard the lady was wailing. When we got to their room, we saw the lifeless body of her boyfriend on the floor,” the source said.

Another resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that neighbours quickly rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Some of the neighbours took the corpse to the hospital while others prevented the lady from running away. When they got to the hospital, the doctors on duty confirmed him dead.

“Then we later went to the police station to report the incident, and returned with some officers who came to take the lady away,” the resident added.

When reached for comment, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, noting that it was reported to the police around 11:30 a.m. on the same day.

He said, “The victim was rushed to Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. The nearest police station, Igando Division, was contacted, and the suspect was arrested.

“Further investigation revealed that the incident occurred in another area of responsibility, and the case was referred to Isheri Oshun. Patrol and DCB teams were mobilised, and the suspect was detained at the Igando Division. The victim’s corpse was deposited at the Igando General Hospital mortuary.”

He added, “Photographs were taken, and the scene of the incident was visited. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered, and blood stains at the scene were documented.

“The suspect made confessional statements under caution. The case file and suspect exhibit will soon be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, for discreet investigation.”
