A 43-year-old man, Rabiu Usman, has been charged with defiling an 11-year-old girl in Timdore, a district in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Adamawa State Police Command, said the arrest resulted from a referral from the Chief Magistrate Court, Ganye, based on a complaint lodged by the girĺ’s mother.
The complaint, according to the police, is that, on 16th February 2025, the minor, while attending a wedding ceremony in Timdore village, went to a nearby house to drink water.
“Unfortunately, the suspect dragged her to the rear side of the compound and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her,” the police said in a statement obtained on Friday morning.
Signed by police image maker, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the statement explained that upon receiving the report, the victim was taken to a medical facility in Ganye for medical examination and treatment.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, strongly condemns the act and directed the Officer in Charge of the Family Support Unit of the Command to take over investigation and ensure a diligent prosecution of the suspect,” the statement assured.
