The Edo State Government has called for increased citizens’ participation in governance and decision making, urging for the support of all Edo people in the realization of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha gave the charge when he received the executives and members of the Immaculate Conception College Old Boys Association (ICCOBA), at the Government House, Benin City.

Iyoha, who is an alumnus of the Immaculate Conception College, noted, “We are proud of our heritage and where we come from. I assure you that I will be a good ambassador in this new position because the school has moulded us into what we have become today.”

According to him, “It is a rare privilege to serve in this capacity; we want that when we leave this position, we will leave our footprints in the sands of time.

“As an old boy and a member of the association, we know that we have a lot of roles to play, even though we know that the structure of the school has changed, vis a vis the ownership. At every opportunity, we will try and galvanize our people to make sure they participate in whatever the government is doing.

“Politics is not for few people but is for all of us because, without participation in politics, it will be difficult to mould it to what we want it to be. We have realized that the world is full of followers with few leaders, we should take responsibility because if we don’t participate, we don’t have the right to complain.”

On his part, the president of the Benin branch of the association, Dr. (Sir) Bruce Osa said the visit was an opportunity to congratulate Iyoha on his appointment as the Chief of Staff by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He noted, “all the branches and the national body of the association were elated that an old boy of our famous college is trusted with such a responsibility in a government that has demonstrated courage, capacity, good governance, and the ability to develop our dear state in a manner that we have not witnessed before now.” Obaseki Edo MEGA Agenda is taking Edo state greater height both in the standard of living and environmental quality.
