The management of the Port Harcourt refinery has said that the plant commenced full-scale operation after successful rehabilitation.

The company’s managing director, Ibrahim Onoja, disclosed this to journalists after a facility tour of the refinery on Sunday night.

According to him, the refinery had undergone extensive upgrades, stating that most of the equipment, including pump installation and cables, were replaced.

“The refining plant has undergone extensive upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability, which has also impacted production capacity.

“We replaced most of the equipment, including pump installation and cables.

“The plant is running, and we are trucking out our products,” he said.

This comes barely six days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced that crude oil processing has commenced at Port Harcourt Refinery.

However, the commencement of Port Harcourt refinery had sparked controversies on the viability of the plant.

There were claims that the refinery trucked out old stocks.

However, NNPCL had dismissed the claims.
