in addition; the 44 Local Government Areas of the state collectively donated N10 million in support of the cause.

Represented by the Director-General of Special Services, AVM Ibrahim Umaru (rtd), Governor Yusuf expressed deep appreciation for the sacrifices of the fallen heroes and acknowledged the contributions of those currently engaged in internal security operations, particularly the ongoing fight against insurgency, terrorism, and armed banditry across the country.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the security of lives and property in the state, ensuring Kano retains its reputation as one of the most peaceful states in the country.

Yusuf also called on stakeholders to support and actively participate in initiatives by the Nigeria Legion, particularly in areas such as transportation, agriculture, and housing development, to improve the welfare of veterans and their families.

He further urged the people of Kano and Nigerians at large to procure and wear the emblems with pride to honor those who laid down their lives for the peace and unity of the nation.

Meanwhile, AVM Umaru (rtd) personally donated N300,000 to the fund.

He also appealed to both the government and well-meaning individuals to assist veterans through empowerment programs, rehabilitation of the State Legion’s Secretariat, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing their standard of living.

During the event, the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Navy each donated N500,000, while the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services contributed N250,000.
