Northern Senators Forum Greets Nigerian Women on IWD 2025

(PRESS STATEMENT)

This year’s theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”, reminds us of the inter-connectedness of these 3 fundamental principles. Notably, rights are the foundation upon which equality is built while equality is essential for empowerment to happen.

The Northern Senators Forum extends warm greetings to women across the nation on International Women’s Day. This special day serves as a poignant reminder of the invaluable contributions women make to our society. The Nigerian women are indeed “nation builders” who deserve our unwavering support and recognition.

Education and healthcare are fundamental rights that form the cornerstone of empowerment. It is imperative that we provide women with unhindered access to quality education and healthcare services. Education enables women to make informed decisions, fosters economic independence, and boosts their participation in the workforce. Similarly, access to quality healthcare ensures that women lead healthy and productive lives, thereby benefiting their families and communities.

By prioritizing these critical areas, we can create a more equitable society where women have the opportunities and resources needed to thrive.

When women are educated and healthy, they become agents of positive change, driving economic growth, and promoting social cohesion. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to supporting women and creating an environment that fosters their growth and success.
Let us work collectively to break down barriers, challenge discriminatory norms, and create opportunities that enable women to reach their full potential.

Sen Abdulaziz Musa Yaradua
Chairman Northern Senators Forum
