Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois has insisted that the Los Blancos are still playing Carlo Ancelotti-type football under current manager, Xabi Alonso.
Courtois spoke following Real Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup 1-1 draw against Al Hilal on Wednesday night.
Recall that Alonso replaced Ancelotti at Real Madrid some weeks ago after the Italian left to take the head coaching job of the national football team of Brazil.
Alonso has been managing Real Madrid for the past couple of days and failed to get a win in his debut game for the club against Al Hilal.
Speaking after the game, Courtois claimed that Real Madrid can’t change from Ancelotti-type football under Alonso in just four days.
According to him, Madrid adopted some habits under Ancelotti that won’t be easy to change under Alonso in a short period of time.
“We are still playing Ancelotti-type football. That can’t change in only 4 days,” the former Chelsea goalkeeper was quoted as saying by Madrid Zone after the game.
“After 4 years with Ancelotti, we learned some habits that are difficult to change in 4 days.
“Xabi wants different ways to defend and attack.
“We are watching videos and talking a lot. We will learn from this game.”
