Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has reacted to his suspension by the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he has yet to receive any formal notification.

The senator’s media aide, Steve Oliyide, said on Wednesday that Daniel had not been served any letter regarding the alleged anti-party activities he was accused of or the reported suspension.

His reaction followed the Ogun APC’s announcement, made just hours earlier, that Daniel and another member, Kunle Folarin, had been suspended indefinitely.

According to the party’s spokesman, Nuberu Olufemi, the suspension was based on the recommendations of disciplinary committees established in Ward 4 and Ward 6 of Sagamu Local Government Area.

The committees accused Daniel and Folarin of anti-party activities and misconduct. The committees reportedly invited them to appear and defend themselves, but both failed to respond or attend the hearings.

In a statement ratifying the suspension, Ogun APC chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, said the indefinite suspension was to protect the integrity of the disciplinary process and ensure unhindered investigations.

Sanusi stated that the committees based their findings on witness testimonies and documentary evidence, further alleging that Daniel and Folarin tried to intimidate party members and pressured them to withdraw their petitions.

“The committees resolved to suspend the members indefinitely, pending further investigation and the outcome of the inquiry,” Sanusi said.
