The Federal Government through the The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority(NMDPRA) has disclosed that the proposed implementation of the 15 per cent of valorem import duty on imported Premium Motor Spirit otherwise called petrol and diesel is no longer in view.
This was as the agency assured the general public that there is adequate supply of petroleum products in the country, within acceptable national sufficiency threshold during this peak demand period.
A statement on X formerly Twitter by the NMDPRA’s Director of Public Affairs, Mr. George Ene-Ita, further assured that there is a robust domestic supply of petroleum products which included; AGO, PMS, LPG among others sourced from both local refineries and imported to ensure timely replenishment of stocks at storage depots and retail stations during this period.
The statement added that the Authority will continue to closely monitor the supply situation and take appropriate regulatory measures to prevent distruption of supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country, especially during this peak demand period.
