Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, has commended residents of the state for supporting and praying towards the success of his administration.
Mufwang said this in a New Year statewide broadcast on Thursday in Jos.
The governor, who noted that the state had underwent series of challenges, however, commended residents for believing in his administration to move it forward.
“I sincerely thank the good people of Plateau for standing firm with this administration.
“In spite of the economic hardships and security challenges, you chose hope over despair and unity over division.
“Together, we embarked on a shared journey towards the rebirth and development of our dear state,” he said.
The governor said that his administration had so far made significant strides in the areas of infrastructure, particularly road networks, education, agriculture, healthcare, among others.
Mutfwang, who acknowledged existential security threats in the state, however, noted that significant improvement had been recorded.
“2025 marked a significant turning point in our collective journey.
“Through the implementation of our Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability, we deepened the foundations of responsible governance, with deliberate focus on peace and security, road infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and human capital development.
“In 2025, we intensified efforts to restore lasting peace across our communities.
“Through strategic collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, faith-based leaders, and community stakeholders, we strengthened early-warning response systems and conflict-prevention mechanisms,” he said.
The governor, who appealed to the residents for support, said the 2026 offers fresh opportunities to consolidate its gains and accelerate development in the state.
He said that in 2026, his administration would focus on key priorities such as urban and rural renewal, social intervention programmes, education, health, agriculture, among others.
Mutfwang also promised transparency and accountability in governance and pledged to continually run an all-inclusive government. (NAN)
