AFCON 2025: Go, Super Eagles! — Tinubu assures Osimhen, others of Nigerians’ support

With his moral-boosting words,
“Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians”, President Bola Tinubu congratulated the Super Eagles for their victory over Algeria and qualification for the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-0 on Saturday to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament in Morocco.

In a post on his X handle, @officialABAT, shortly after the match, Tinubu praised the team’s display and assured them of national support.

“Brilliant performance… inspiring,” the President wrote,
“Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians,” he added.

Goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealed the victory for Nigeria in Marrakech, extending the team’s unbeaten run in the competition.

Nigeria will now face hosts Morocco in the semi-final on Wednesday for a place in the final scheduled for Jan. 18 in Rabat.
