The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will secure a decisive win in the 2027 presidential race.

Matawalle called on Nigerians and political leaders to unite in support of the administration’s ongoing reforms.

Addressing guests at his Abuja residence on Saturday, Matawalle said the President’s style of governance and policy choices are steadily steering Nigeria toward economic recovery, stronger institutions, and greater national unity.

He warned against early political scheming and internal power contests aimed at weakening the current government, describing such moves as driven by narrow interests and harmful to the health of Nigeria’s democracy.

He said, “President Tinubu has taken bold steps to stabilise the economy and strengthen national institutions.

“Those plotting to unseat him are motivated by personal interests rather than the public good. If allowed to complete his reform programme, I am confident the President will win convincingly in 2027.”

According to Matawalle, the benefits of the administration’s policies are already becoming evident nationwide, with notable progress in the North, particularly in governance reforms, security efforts, and institutional development.

He urged political stakeholders to prioritise dialogue and collaboration over division, emphasizing that the collective good of the nation must outweigh individual political aspirations.

The minister further encouraged citizens to back government initiatives designed to drive long-term economic expansion, enhance security, and reinforce national cohesion.

“Rather than engaging in rancour and short-term political calculations, we should focus on solutions that deliver jobs, security, and stronger institutions for Nigerians,” he said.
