(REPORT)

Nigeria’s oil sector has staged a dramatic turnaround, moving from a period when production sank below one million barrels per day due to rampant theft, to current output levels fluctuating between 1.5 million and 1.84 million barrels per day, driven largely by the intervention of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL.

A special report credits the private security firm’s aggressive anti theft operations and advanced surveillance systems for reversing years of massive losses to criminal networks in the Niger Delta.

Tantita, which oversees 2,366 kilometres of pipelines and operates across more than 20,000 square kilometres, has recorded a success rate of between 97 and 99 percent, surpassing its contractual benchmark.
Its operations have exposed and dismantled sophisticated oil theft networks, including illegal pipeline connections, hidden storage facilities, and clandestine export routes. Marine patrols have intercepted vessels used for smuggling, while onshore teams have uncovered illegal markets and unconventional transport systems used to move stolen crude.
The report also highlights significant enforcement outcomes, with 586 suspects arrested, 225 cases recorded, 125 filed in court, and 28 convictions secured.
Backed by drone surveillance and real time intelligence, Tantita has not only disrupted the entire oil theft value chain but also restored confidence in Nigeria’s production system.
The result is clear, a sector once crippled by losses has rebounded strongly, delivering higher output, improved security, and renewed economic value for the nation.
