The Federal Government has released activities for the 2026 Democracy Day observance slated for June 12.
Unveiling the activities, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, George Akume described Democracy Day as a solemn occasion to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigerians who fought for the return of democratic rule.
Akume said the day is to pay special tribute to the heroes of the June 12, 1993 struggle and the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola.
According to him, the day offers the Federal Government an opportunity to showcase achievements in strengthening democratic institutions and advancing national development despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.
