A 90-year-old woman, Mrs Rachael Abiodun, exercised her civic right by voting for her preferred governorship candidate at Ward 7 unit 8, Oke-Ila, in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.

In her interview with the correspondent of News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), shortly after voting, Abiodun said she joined other eligible voters to cast her vote for the governorship candidate of her choice, due to confidence she has in the system.
Abiodun said she voted because she wanted a better live for her children and grandchildren.

The nonagenarian said that some of her children and grandchildren who were graduates are unemployed for years.
She added that if a competent person is elected, there would be change and transformation in the lives of the people.

NAN reports that the old woman who arrived at the polling unit with the assistance of her relative, successfully voted after a seamless accreditation exercise.

She said that her participation at the polling unit demonstrated her commitment to democratic value and civic responsibility.
Abiodun advised Nigerians to show more interest in the electoral process, especially by voting during elections.
According to her, it is through voting that the masses could effect positive changes in the system and the country will get better.
“When people refuse to participate in election to decide who occupy important positions, they are indirectly encouraging bad people into offices.
“I, feel that Nigerians should wake up and effectively take part in our democratic process to make the country a better place,”, she said.
