Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said the chances of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso making significant progress in the 2027 presidential election remain slim unless they come together.
Fayose stated this while appearing on TVC’s Politics Tonight, where he assessed the opposition’s chances ahead of the 2027 election.
According to him, Atiku and Obi have already lost the presidential race under the current political arrangement, while only a possible alliance between them could change the situation.
He said, “In the presidential election, Obi has lost already; Atiku has lost already. Except there is a miracle of them coming together, there is no headway.”
Fayose also claimed that some people in Kano were unhappy with Kwankwaso’s decision to serve as Obi’s running mate on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket.
He argued that the opposition had waited too long to form a united front, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had already accredited the political parties and candidates.
Fayose further expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing victory in the 2027 presidential election, saying those expecting the opposition to defeat him were “fooling themselves.”
