Adeleke to Seek Re-election under Accord Party

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has perfected plans to contest his re-election under the Accord Party (AP), investigation revealed.

Adeleke in his resignation letter said, “Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect. I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party.”

Following the resignation from the PDP amid party’s internal crisis, Adeleke would announce his decision to contest under the Accord Party any moment.

Investigation revealed that Adeleke had sealed agreement with leadership of Accord Party and the party has agreed to raise his hand openly.

A top member of the PDP who pleaded anonymity confided in The Sun that the people of the state would be informed officially very soon.

“It may be today or tomorrow, all I know is that the Accord Party has agreed to cede governorship ticket to Adeleke and the announcement would be made very soon,” the source said.

The Sun recalled that former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola had on a radio programme said Accord Party is fair and ruled out the possibility of joining the APGA.

“My moving with Adeleke to another party will depend on the party we are joining. If it is a party that I don’t believe in, I will excuse myself.

“If we said we are going to APGA, we will be entering a one-chance. The Accord party is even fair. I know how the Accord party was formed and the founder. Olusegun Obasanjo was the one who formed the Accord Party,” Oyinlola said.

A source within the Accord Party confided in The Sun that Adeleke is contesting his re-election under the platform.

He disclosed that the discussion has been sealed before the resignation of the governor from the PDP.

“I can confirm to you that party leaders have agreed to give him governorship ticket. Everything has been sealed unless he change his mind.

“I may not be authoritative about the date of his official announcement but it would be done on or before December 10,” the source said.
