Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has declared the team’s readiness to win a fourth title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Éric Chelle’s side were pitted in Group C with Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, Cranes of Uganda, and Taifa Stars of Tanzania at the competition’s draw ceremony in Rabat on Monday night.
Troost-Ekong said it is important for the three-time champions to respect the teams in their group.
The Al Kholood of Saudi Arabia defender also posited that Super Eagles have the quality to win the title after finishing second the last time in Cote d’Ivoire.
“AFCON 2025 draw is now over, very exciting to see the groups. Tunisia, Uganda and Tanzania. Three teams that needs to be respected,” Troost-Ekong told the Super Eagles media.
“I think we have the experience now on how to handle situation like this. There are no easy games again in Africa. That’s a common knowledge now.
“However, I believe we have what it takes to come out of this group and this time go all the way. We learnt so much last year from the AFCON in Abidjan.
“This time, we will be more ready and work hard throughout the year to make sure everyone is fit and ready.
“We are looking forward to playing under the new coach. Exciting year ahead , and I’m very happy with the AFCON draw.”
