As the orgy of killings of innocent citizens of Borno State by insurgents operating in the area continues, an unconfirmed report claimed on Wednesday that 100 persons were killed during Tuesday’s attack on three border communities with Cameroon during a raid. The three villages attacked are Attagara, Agapalawa and Aganjara.
A man, who lost his brother in the attack, said armed men dressed in military camouflage drove into the three communities in military vehicles and unleashed the mayhem on the residents.
“The community actually thought the gunmen were military personnel. It didn’t occur to them they were Boko Haram. It was too late by the time they found out as the insurgents have indiscriminately opened fire on them.”
“As I am speaking to you over 83 corpses are laying in the villages now yet to be buried,” he lamented.
Another indigene of the area, who is resident in Maiduguri, said he had been in touch with three of his relations who were fortunate enough to escape being killed.
He said his fleeing relations were lucky to have escaped the attack but have to return to the village again fearing they could be traced into the bush by the Boko Haram.
According to Ibrahim, his relatives who were unaware of the level of killings were shell-shocked when they found out the magnitude of the murder.
Though attempts to get security operatives confirmation was unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report, a security source disclosed that the communities lost 83 persons.
