Again, Trump Survives Assassination Attempt; Suspect Arrested

Donald Trump was unharmed following an attempted assassination on Sunday, as Secret Service agents thwarted a gunman while he was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The FBI labelled the incident an apparent assassination attempt.

Law enforcement officials reported that agents fired at the suspect, who had positioned himself in the bushes near the golf course’s property line.

The suspect, who abandoned an AK-47-style assault rifle and other items at the scene, fled in a vehicle but was apprehended later.

However, the FBI has not confirmed this identity, and access to the suspect’s social media profiles has since been restricted.

The three accounts bearing Routh’s name suggest he was an avid supporter of Ukraine in its war against Russia.

The attempt comes two months after Trump sustained a minor injury from a shooting at a Pennsylvania campaign rally.

It was not clear if or how the suspect knew Trump was playing golf at the time, but the attempted attack was sure to raise new questions about the level of protection he is given.

The suspect, identified by CNN, Fox News, and The New York Times as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, from Hawaii, has been linked to pro-Ukraine sentiments on social media.
