Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Wednesday assured members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of the party’s resolve to entrench internal democracy.

Al-Makura gave the assurance in Lafia at a meeting with stakeholders of the party.

He said that the party had adopted measures toward addressing all grievances arising from the local government party primaries held in the state a fortnight ago.

According to the governor, all issues arising from the conduct of the primaries will be resolved amicably to the satisfaction of all.

The governor said that the principles and ideals of the party were hinged on upholding the tenets of democracy.

Al-Makura, who described primary elections as crucial toward ensuring the credibility of the party, assured that all contending issues arising from the exercise would be addressed promptly.

He said that all genuine complaints would be given the required attention and advised all aspirants to work for the success of the party.

Earlier, Mr Stanley Buba, the state APC Interim Chairman, explained that the party was aware of the contentious issues arising from the local government primary election.

Buba said that the party had set up appeal committees to address the grievances.

The chairman, whose hotel was torched by some aggrieved youths in Akwanga, warned members of the party against taking the laws into their hands.
