A Gwagwalada Upper Area Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, issued a warrant for the arrest of a 47-year-old security guard, Daniel Goto, and his son, Joshua.
Goto and his son are facing  a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, negligent conduct and theft of employer’s property by a servant to which they both pleaded not guilty.
The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, issued the warrant following an oral application by the Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko.
Tanko had prayed the court to revoke the bail of the defendants for not appearing to defend the charge against them.
Abdulkarim also ordered that a hearing notice should be served on the sureties to show cause why the bail bond they entered should not be forfeited.
He adjourned the case until May 22, for a hearing.
Earlier, Tanko had told the court that the complainant Mr Gibson Ilookonkwo of No.10 Gwari St., Barnawa, Kaduna State, had reported the matter at the Iddo police station on Oct. 18, 2022.
He said that the complainant employed Goto as a security guard in his factory, but the latter allegedly conspired with his son and stole factory equipment valued at N11.6 million.
The prosecutor said that during the police investigation, Daniel (the son) allegedly confessed to selling the properties to one ‘Small’ now at large.
Tanko added that the 2nd defendant also informed the police that his father also  allegedly sold some of the stolen items to other persons..
The prosecutor said that the alleged offences committed contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 196 and 287 of the Penal Code.
