(PRESS STATEMENT)

Hon. Philip Agbese, the honourable member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, has declared that Benue State’s political direction in the 2027 elections will follow wherever Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume leads.

Speaking to journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport , Abuja, upon his return from the Pan-African Parliament session in Johannesburg, Agbese was asked about the shifting political landscape in Nigeria and Benue in particular.

His response was a resounding endorsement of Akume’s leadership, attributing to him a legacy of dedication and visionary governance.

“Anywhere Akume wants is where Benue will go in 2027,” the Deputy Spokesman of the 10th House of Representatives stated emphatically.

“He is the compass that guides us through the storms of political uncertainty, especially as we navigate the new movements emerging ahead of 2027. He is called a cat with nine lives for a reason.

“The embodies the wisdom and experience necessary to steer Benue through different times, ensuring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains on a steady course despite emerging challenges and shifting alliances.”

Agbese’s words underscore Akume’s unparalleled ability to connect with the grassroots, understanding the pulse of the people and making decisions rooted in their needs and aspirations.

Agbese highlighted Akume’s role in the emergence of Governor Hyacinth Alia, noting his significant contributions to the party’s success in Benue State.

“No leader is known to the people until he gets power and money and sometimes women,” Agbese remarked. “But SGF Akume’s consistency and dedication have been evident long before and after such moments.

“No one can blame him for Governor Alia’s behaviour after getting power. Akume’s hand in shaping Benue’s political landscape is evident. He has been the bridge between generations, mentoring young leaders while upholding the traditions of our elders. His wisdom is our anchor, his vision our roadmap.”

Agbese’s praise extended to Akume’s personal qualities, describing him as a “beacon of hope and stability.”

“He is the covenant keeper, the one who fulfills promises when others falter,” Agbese added. “In a world where political loyalty is often questioned, Sir Akume stands as a paragon of fidelity.

“His leadership has been proven time and again, not just in words but in actions that have transformed lives and communities.”

The Deputy Spokesman further lauded Akume’s character, calling him a “man of impeccable character, a leader who leads by example. His humility, despite his towering achievements, is inspiring.

“He listens, he learns, and he leads with a heart full of service. Akume is not just a politician; he is a statesman, a father figure to us all.”

Agbese noted that the discussions on governance and leadership at the Pan-African Parliament resonated with the political dynamics back home.

“The discussions in Johannesburg reinforced the importance of strong, principled leadership,” Agbese explained. “Akume’s track record aligns perfectly with these ideals.”
