The Women Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 Presidential Campaign Team have donated N20 million to the victims of the recent flood in Yobe State.
The leadership of the APC women campaign wing was actually in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state on Friday, October 28 where they met with the affected population.
Chairperson of the Campaign Team, and wife of the party’s Presidential flag bearer Senator Oluremi Tinubu, had while addressing the residents affected by the flood disaster, said they found it necessary to visit Yobe State to commiserate with them over the natural disaster that has destroyed livelihoods.
Senator Tinubu sympathized with the affected people and prayed that Almighty God averts a recurrence of the flood disaster to residents of Yobe.
She made a presentation of N20 million as support to 400 victims of the flood with each expected to have 50,000 naira as support to enable them to recapitalize the small-scale businesses that they were engaged in before the flood disaster.
Food and non-food items presented to those affected through the Yobe state government include 300 pieces of wrappers, 50 cartons of tomato paste, 250 bags of rice, 200 bags of Semovita, 200 cartons of spaghetti, 200 cartons of indomie, 40 cartons of cowbell chocolate drinks, 6 cartons of oil,10bags of salt, 10 cartons of maggi and 50 baby bath sets.
The Governor of Yobe state, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, appreciated the team for the visit and donations. He stressed that the donated cash and food items will go a long way in bringing succour to the residents affected in the state.
The Women’s campaign delegation which had the wife of the APC vice Presidential candidate Hajiya Nana Shettima, as co-chair, also visited the Palace of the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-Kenemi II, where they commiserated with the monarch over the recent demise of his son, Abba Sadiq Shehu Hashimi.
