Backlash as Tribunal Upholds Tinubu’s Victory | METROWATCH

Netizens have taken to different social media platforms to share their thoughts on Wednesday’s judgment by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal upholding President Tinubu’s victory.

A five-member panel of the Tribunal took turns to dismiss the petitions presented by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar; Labour Party and its candidate, Peter Obi; against the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1, 2023.

Netizens have since begun to share their thoughts on the ruling.

#Drelmoatiku tweeted, “INEC – The law says it is mandatory we must electronically transmit results in real-time from the polling units to the IREV.

“Justice Tsammani- You be mumu. The law doesn’t say it’s compulsory. Don’t go and put yourself into trouble.

“Justice Tsammani became INEC chief witness and defendant in court. What a sad day for democracy and our electoral laws. #PEPTJudgment #SupremeCourt.”

#TheSearhIbrahim also tweeted, “Let the World know: What Justice Tsammani did today at the PEPT is worse than any military coup.”

#ErimRexErim1 wrote, “Selective Amnesia That’s what happened at PPT yesterday. Justice Tsammani practically said things that didn’t happen during the proceedings. What a country.”

#Masuzafi also wrote, “Justice Tsammani just ruled that there was no evidence of election malpractice in the 2023 presidential elections regardless of the facts the court was presented with. A typical third-world judgment. I will strongly advise that before we fix this country, let us fix ourselves first.”

#Yakubuaolamiotan on Instagram wrote, “You didn’t defeat Peter Obi and Atiku, you only paid your way through.”

#Soloblinkz on Instagram also wrote, “As a student of law and a lawyer, no matter which side you belong to, you should be ashamed of what the justices are doing today in the courtroom.”

Although more people have continued to slam the ruling, a couple of supporters have also continued to congratulate the president on the reaffirmation of his victory.

#TBR_redords on Instagram wrote, “Jagaban, the man of the moment I see the hand 🖐 of God upon #officialasiwajubat your mandate was truly orchestrated by God. From the decisions you have taken so far, I am convinced you will do a lot for this country. At last, a new Nigeria 🇳🇬 is here.”

#TaiwoKayode on Facebook also congratulated the president writing, “Congratulations to you sir, this is time for you to prove to us that you are far better than other past presidents, once again congratulations I wish you the best of luck.”
