Boko Haram: Gov Umara Pleads with TETFUND to Rehabilitate Tertiary Institutions in Borno

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara has made case for his state to be given priority by the management of Tertiary Education Trust FUND (TETFUND) in dilapidated structures in higher institutions considered for rehabilitation and reconstruction.

The governor made this appeal on Monday when the management staff of TETFUND led by the Executive Secretary, Mr Elias Suleiman paid a courtesy call on him.

Umara said the Colleges of education, Bama and Waka, and the newly established State University need intervention of the TETFUND.

The governor expressed gratitude to the Executive Secretary for his intervention in Ramat Polytechnic and Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri and other numerous assistance rendered.

He said for the State University to commence the planned academic activities this year it need assistance and as such the state appreciate any intervention from TETFUND to achieve the desired objectives.

He told the visiting team that the state has constructed 46 Mega Schools across the state, mostly for urphans whose parents were killed by Boko Haram terrorists.

The Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Elias Suleiman said he was in Borno as part of his routine visit to tertiary institutions.

He commended the governor for taking education as one his priority areas to move the state to the next level.

He promised to give necessary support to reposition tertiary institutions in the state.
