Boko Haram: Nigerian Soldier Goes Berserk, Kills 4 Colleagues, Injures 2 Others in Borno

A Nigerian Army corporal, name withheld, went on berserk on Wednesday and opened fire on six soldiers, Killing four and injured two others.

The soldier, who also killed himself, was serving at the Theatre Command, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Army Super Camp 15, located at Malam Fatori in Borno State near the border with Niger and Chad.
Confirming the report, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, said the corporal who went a killing spree, killed four of his colleagues before shooting himself.
The Army spokesman added that two of his colleagues were also injured during the incident and are currently in stable condition in military hospital in Maiduguri.
 “A berserk corporal of the Nigerian Army serving at the Theatre Command Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Army Super Camp 15, located at Malam Fatori went berserk in early hours of 26 February 2020 and opened fire killing 4 of his colleagues before shooting himself.
“Two of his colleagues were also injured during the incident and are currently in stable condition in our hospital in Maiduguri”,  Musa said.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, further said that efforts are ongoing to contact the families of the gallant colleagues who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

He said investigation into the case has since been instituted to determine the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.
