The Chief Medical Director (CMD), University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Dr Darlington Obaseki, has commended the efforts and contributions of Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Mrs Victoria Gowon and late Samuel Ogbemudia for establishing the hospital.
Obaseki made the commendation at a news conference held in Benin at the sideline of the hospital’s 46th Anniversary/Inaugural and Founders week, beginning on Monday in the hospital.
“Today (May 13) is the official commencement of our inaugural founders’ week.
“We are acknowledging our founding fathers and all those who contributed to the success of this hospital.
“I want to appreciate the community and the state for their contributions over the years.
“We committed the whole activities of the founders’ week yesterday in church and God has given us His blessings and we are ready to start today”, Obaseki said.
The CMD said that the hospital staff would play a novelty match at 4 p.m. today, while on May 14, the hospital would organise free checkups and healthcare at Uselu market at 9 a.m.
According to him, on Wednesday the hospital will honour all alumni and May 16 will be the Grand Finale: launching of Endowment Fund/founders day.
Obaseki thanked the Edo Government and the communities for all the support given to UBTH over the years.
