Consider Western Iyamu in Your Cabinet, Edo Group begs Gov. Okpebholo

A formidable coalition of Edo’s brightest minds, under the aegis of Edo for Good Governance, has appealed to the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to consider Amb. Western Iyamu for an appointment, citing his extensive contributions to youth empowerment, humanitarian service, and grassroots political mobilization.

The group, which comprises young professionals, Edo youths, diasporans, members of the Comrades Community, and alumni of leading universities, described Amb. Iyamu as a “visionary leader with the competence and passion needed to drive key sectors of the Okpebholo administration.”

According to the group, “Amb. Iyamu is not just another political figure; he is a catalyst for change. Through his Foundation and NGO—Western Iyamu Global Foundation and Westerners Worldwide—he has spearheaded educational empowerments for hundreds of Edo youths, both at home and abroad, ensuring that the future of our young generation is secured through quality education.”

Beyond education, the group said Amb. Iyamu has spearheaded numerous humanitarian projects, from community development initiatives to social intervention programs that have uplifted the less privileged across Edo State. “His relentless commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, and capacity building has made a tangible impact, positioning him as a true champion of the people.”

The group further emphasized that “in the build-up to the 2024 Edo governorship election, the Diaspora Friends for Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa, ably led by Western Iyamu, played a critical role in ensuring victory. From mobilization efforts to strategic sponsorship of campaign programs, he and his team stood firmly with the Okpebholo movement before, during, and after the polls.”

They, however, clarified that their appeal to the Governor is not just all about reward but about ensuring that the Okpebholo administration maximizes the expertise of individuals who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to the growth of Edo State.

“Western Iyamu’s inclusion in the cabinet is not just a political decision; it is a strategic move that will inject fresh energy, innovative ideas, and a deep understanding of governance into the administration. His track record speaks volumes, and his presence will undoubtedly add value to the government’s developmental agenda.

“With a proven track record of leadership, a heart for humanity, and a deep-rooted love for Edo State, Western Iyamu stands as an asset too valuable to be overlooked. Our call for his inclusion is not just an appeal—it is an opportunity for the Okpebholo government to harness excellence in governance,” the statement concluded.
