The Obolo Youth Coalition has reiterated commitment towards the betterment of residents of Obolo indigenous communities domiciled across Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State and Eastern Obolo Local Government Area in Akwa-Ibom state.
Delivering some food items to indigent residents of Ikuru town in Andoni Local Area council, President of the group, Comrade Mkpon Ijonama, said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the plight of the poor amidst the covid-19 pandemic.
Ijonama, who is also the CEO Mkpochi Resources, was represented by His Chief of Staff, Comrade Kingsley Simon, during the exercise.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the group, Comrade Titus Jonez, has urged beneficiaries of the palliative to continue to adhere to government’s directives in the fight against covid-19 in the state.
Adding that the food items would go a long way to help cushion the effects of hardship of the lockdown on the poor.
According to him, the group in collaboration with an operating oil company, Amni International Petroleum Company, embarked on the exercise to help in cushioning the effect of the ravaging covid-19 pandemic especially on rural dwellers.
“As an organised youth body, it is our social responsibility to ensure that our people receive some succor in this very trying time.
“The distribution process was transparent and worthwhile as it was directly being monitored by our officials.
“Food items, hand sanitizers and face masks where amongst items distributed during the exercise. “he said.
Responding to the gesture, beneficiaries thanked the group and prayed God for quick recovery from the ravaging global pandemic.
