Immediate past President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has urged Nigerians to resort to prayer for the nation in distress in order to surmount the socio- economic and political challenges facing the country.

Addressing Pilgrims of St. Mulumba Catholic chaplaincy, Abuja to the 2017 pilgrimage to Jerusalem today, Senator Mark told them that Nigeria and the World at large needs prayer to overcome the threat to peace and insecurity ravaging mankind.

He said: “Nations are facing challenges of insecurity. Terrorism and Insurgency are ravaging human race. We can all resort to prayer for God to intervene. That is my charge to you as you depart to the Holy Land today”.

He told the pilgrims to be good Ambassadors of Nigeria in the Holy land reminding them that the image of Nigeria is uppermost at this moment.

Senator Mark cautioned them against the temptation to abscond from the Holy land warning, “it is not a bed of roses over there”.

In his Homily, the Chaplain of St. Mulumba’s Catholic Chaplaincy, Rev. Father Innocent Jooji reminded the pilgrims that “the mission is purely holy engagement (Prayer). It is neither a jamboree nor going for shopping spree”.

Father Jooji implored them to comply with the rules and regulations of pilgrimage and avoid any act likely to tarnish the image of Nigeria.
