Ahead of the July 13, 2024 local government election in Delta State, the people of Alihame and Ekuku-Agbor communities in Ika South local government area of the State have declared support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the area, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior.

They made their intentions known when the PDP candidate visited the communities to declare his intention for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming council election.

In their various remarks, the leadership of both communities who accorded the PDP local government flag bearer a rousing welcome, lauded the party for the choice of the immediate past Commissioner for Power and Energy, Engr Jerry Ehiwarior as the flag bearer of the party in the local government council election.

They expressed the hope that given the track record of the youthful chairmanship hopeful, Ika South would witness massive social-economic transformation.

Speaking specifically, Pa. Jacob Osaro Nwajose an indigene of Alihiame, described Engr. Ehiwarior as a round peg in a round hole who, according to him, has over the years, exhibited exceptional leadership and administrative qualities both as student leader, aide to the immediate-past Governor of the State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on Student Affairs, and immediate past Commissioner for Power and Energy in the current administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Earlier, the PDP candidate who was accompanied on the visit by a mammoth crowd of supporters, said he decided to visit both communities first to inform them of his intention to run for the chairmanship position in the forthcoming council election because, according to him, they are his families.

“I am from Ekuku-Agbor, but I was born and raised in Alihame. So, it is only morally right for me to first start this journey from within my family.

“The campaign has not started, we intend to start within the next one or two weeks time. But, before the campaign, I thought it wise to come here first to inform my people, my family of my intention to run for the chairmanship position.

“This is why we are here today to inform you of this move and to also, seek your blessings and moral support in this my journey” Engr. Ehiwarior said.
