The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo on the successful restoration of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) terrestrial on UHF Channel 45 and the reopening of the Ihievbe broadcast station.
In a statement on Saturday by Chairman of the Council, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, he said the development marks the station’s significant return to the airwaves after a decade-long absence, reestablishing a “viral connection” with the people of Edo North and Nigeria as a whole.
“This milestone is a testament to Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to revitalizing the media industry in Edo State,” he said. “The Governor ‘s leadership and vision have made a significant impact, and we are grateful for his efforts.”
He also commended the Managing Director (MD), EBS, Sulaiman Aledeh, for his dedication to ensuring the transformation and success of EBS.
“His hard work and expertise have been instrumental in achieving this milestone,” Alenkhe noted.
The NUJ boss also lauded the governor’s decision to absorb new EBS staff, describing it as a strong step toward empowering journalists and strengthening quality journalism in the state.
“We appreciate Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to the growth and development of the media industry in Edo State, as evident in his decision to absorb the new EBS staff.
“This move demonstrates his dedication to empowering journalists and promoting quality journalism in Edo state.
“Once again, congratulations to Governor Monday Okpebholo on this remarkable achievement. We look forward to continued collaboration and growth in the media industry.”
With EBS back on air, stakeholders anticipate a new era of dynamic and impactful broadcasting in Edo State, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo.
