The political structure in the ward of Senator Clifford Odia, the Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, is in disarray as one of his highly dependable political ally, Mr Tony Okonigene joins All Progressive Congress, APC in Irrua, in Esan Central Local Government Area.
Mr Tony Okonigene was the pillar that held the political structure in the ward of Senator Odia [Ward 06]. Being the major foot soldier of the Senator, Tony Okonigene, was able to politically safeguard the political home front of Senator Odia of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in any election.
As a result of Tony’s political sagacity and electoral value, he was elected into the PDP state exco in the last PDP’s state congress.
Tony’s capacity to galvanise and coordinate human resources for political exploit, endeared him to PDP former governorship aspirant, Egr Gideon Ikhine, who without blinking an eye, made Tony the spokesman of his governorship campaign.
Tony Okonigene was not just a foot soldier of Senator Clifford Odia, he was also a disciple of PDP, until he had an encounter with the true message of Hope and Light, preached by Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, which guarantees the genuine moving forward of Edo state, towards economic and infrastructural eldorado.
As an unapologetic believer of Esan Agenda, after an exhaustive session of deep intellectual exercise, Tony came to the undeniable conclusion, that, Esan Agenda is easily achievable with the support for Pastor Ize-Iyamu to be the next Governor of Edo state, than Gov Godwin Obaseki, who for the past three and half years failed, to display good faith towards Esanland, either in political appointments or infrastructural developments.
When the news of Tony’s plans to dump the PDP for APC, was made public, as evidenced in his resignation letter, addressed to the chairman of PDP in his ward and subsequently released to the press, on June 30th, in a quick intervention the state government offered him the position of Senior Special Assistant [SSA] to the Governor, just to tie him down in the party.
But, Tony declined interest in the greek gift, in form of political appointment, that only has three months life span.
In view of Tony’s decision to join forces with the progressives in Esan Central cum Esanland, PDP and the political structure of Senator Clifford Odia in his ward and local government (Esan Central) has been greatly decimated by the exit of Tony Okonigene from PDP. In the same-vein, the political fortunes of PDP in the locaI government has tremendously gone down.
