Hon. Johnson Adamu, a prominent young chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has led a mass defection of party executives from the PDP in Edo State.
According to letters cited, Hon. Adamu, who has been a strong voice of the party in the last decade and leader of Ward 9,
The defection is seen as a significant blow to the PDP in the state, as Hon. Adamu is widely respected and has a large following among young people in the party within and outside Edo State.
According to the letters, the reason for mass resignation centred on disagreements with the government and party leadership over issues of governance and internal democracy.
The former members accused the governor of the state of promoting godfatherism that is not in line with their principles.
The development is expected to have far-reaching implications for the party in Etsako East as it prepares for the September 21 Governorship poll.
In the past months, PDP has witnessed mass exodus of its younger members due to what they describe as lack of direction in the Party.
Worse hit by the wave of defection is Edo State chapter where many of its members are leaving in mass.
