New Benin residents, made up of landlords and landladies in New Benin and Environs, a major settlement in Benin City, on Monday endorsed Senator Monday Okpebholo, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September 21 governorship election
The group disclosed this at a meeting they called at the Upper Mission area of the state.
At the meeting were the governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo, his running mate, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, former governor Adams Oshiomhole, the Director-General of the APC governorship campaign, Senator Matthew Urhokhide, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and other party leaders.
Urhokhide appealed to the group to move further with their endorsement by voting the APC on September 21.
Speaking at the occasion, Oshiomhole apologized to the people for selling Governor Godwin Obaseki to them in 2016.
He also reminded them that when he realised that the governor had deceived him, he denied him ticket in 2020, but was quickly bought and rehabilitated by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that gave him the 2nd term ticket.
He told them: “I have made mistakes, but the Binis also made mistakes for voting him in 2020.”
The APC candidate and his running mate expressed gratitude to the landlords and landladies for endorsing them ahead the September 21 election.
He assured them that he would restart the infrastructural development of the state from where Comrade Adams Oshiomhole stopped in 2016.
