Emir Canvasses Action to Revive Nigeria’s Basic Education Sector

Emir of Damaturu, Shehu Hashimi Al-Amin, has said there is urgent need to revive basic education system in the country
The Emir, who expressed support over recent declaration of state of emergency in education in Yobe State, said it became imperative in order to breathe life into the sector.
The Emir of Damaturu, who addressed members of his emirate council at a meeting organized to assess the current nature of basic education in the state, said the state government has realized that for the desired objectives of reviving the sector to be achieved, there is need for strong support and cooperation from the traditional rulers and parents.
The monarch appealed to community leaders and parents to join hands with government to reverse the decadence in the education sector.
He tasked members of the emirate council to extend this message to their communities by notifying the masses that government has swung into action towards revitalizing the system of basic and secondary education within the emirate and the state at large.
In their separate remarks, the representative of commissioner for lower education, Bukar Modu, Director Human Resource Management of Damaturu local Government, Abubakar Muhammad Kolere and Damaturu Local Government Education Secretary, Makinta Alhaji Mele, applauded the emirate for its commitment towards supporting the state government to achieve its aims.
