Palpable tension and confusion have enveloped Oshimili North chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State following the alleged endorsement of a candidate for the state House of Assembly seat.
While aggrieved Members of the Party are threatening exit, it was gathered that some leaders of the party for greed, had allegedly soiled their hands with litany of inducements.
Sources said the crux of the matter is that those who recently decamped from APC to PDP are allegedly given opportunity to get the tickets for any seats they aspired to occupy.
But in a press statement signed by Chief John Akwueigu and 60 other members of the local government political leadership, they said: “We are not a part of any endorsement of any candidate, it is capable of destroying the party, there is already a bad blood generated by these so called leaders of our great party who have soiled their hands with litany of bribes “
The statement, however, appealed to all aspirants who have indicated their interest in Oshimili North House of Assembly seat to remain calm and continue to go about their request without fear of intimidation
The statement further said “our position is that things must be done the right way and according to the rules and this, is that, the party’s candidate must emerge from free and fair primaries to be conducted by PDP” .
It was gathered that some of the leaders allegedly endorsed Mrs. Pat Ajudua, a four-termer in the House after allegedly collecting huge sums of money, a situation that has triggered bad blood among members of the party.
The leaders in the statement, however expressed their unflinching support for the second term bid of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and Sanator Peter Nwaoboshi, adding that all elective positions should be decided through the primaries to be conducted in due course by the party.
