The family of Ezekiel Wikimor of Esanma community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday asked the Bomadi Police Division to produce the killer of their son, Ezekiel Wikimor.
Wikimor was allegedly shot on the thigh by Bomadi vigilante group in an operation carried out last Saturday night at Ayama quarter of Bomadi community as he was reported to have gone to his friend’s house to pass the fateful night when the unexpected happened.
But the spokeman for the family, Foster Wikimor, who spoke to newsmen in the area confirmed that the police at the Bomadi Police station were petitioned immediately the incident happened.
He added that “over a week now nothing has been fourth coming from the police.”
He said: “the police have done nothing to our petition till now, we have given the police 24 hours for them to produce the killer of our son and we insist that he was not a cultist.
“The police failed to arrest the vigilante members, and we are asking them to produce the killer of our son.
“We will not relent until the killer of our son is found, we shall soon sue the police and the vigilante members”.
The coordinator of the vigilante group in the area, Friday Olotukeme, however, told newsmen that the victim was a member of a cult group allegedly terrorizing the community before nemesis caught up with him.
He added that: “The victim is a member of a cult group and alleged armed robber, popularly known as virus and has been on the watch list of security agencies.
“He was the second in command to the big boy, the overall boss was Killed sometime last year.
“We got a tip off from security sources and we went after him, he escaped from his house and we went after him and got him, eventually.”
It was gathered that the vigilante group members opened fire on the victim in his attempt to escape from his friend’s house upon which he was rushed to the hospital before the police arrived, gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
The police public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who reacted on the incident, told newsmen that investigation into the killing and alleged member of a cult group by the victim was ongoing, adding: “the police are investigating the incident and the report from Bomadi Police station, until the investigation is concluded, we cannot speak further, all I can say is that investigation is ongoing, it’s unfortunate that the victim was alleged to be a cultist, but investigation will give us the true story”.
