Federal Varsity, Gashua, Fires VC over Fraud Allegation

The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Gashua (FUGA), Professor Andrew Haruna, has been suspended by the governing council of the institution for misconduct and misappropriation of fund.
The suspension was communicated, in a statement signed by the Acting Registrar and Secretary to Council, Aliyu Shehu.

The statement was made available to journalists in Damaturu, Yobe state on Monday.

The statement read that the governing council has approved the suspension of Vice Chancellor Andrew Haruna, and has appointed Professor Maimuna Waziri, as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The statement added that the governing council of the university, at its emergency meeting, held on Thursday, 20/06/2019 considered and approved the report of the joint council committee for the investigation of gross misconduct, misappropriation and recruitment scandal by the Vice Chancellor Professor Andrew Haruna, which found his culpable.

The statement added that the Federal University of Gashua Governing Council, has approved the appointment of Professor Maimuna Waziri as the new acting Vice Chancellor of the university until a substantive one is appointed.

The acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Maimuna Waziri, until her appointment was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the university.

She was also the pioneer Dean, Faculty of Science of the university.

Professor Maimuna Waziri was born in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area of Yobe state, on 28, October, 1966.
